Liquid Biopsy

Liquid biopsy is a cancer analysis method done with blood samples. In liquid biopsy, circulating tumor cells, cellular fragments and genetic materials composed of DNA particles are analyzed.

If tumor cells are released from its original place into the blood circulation, they are called circulating tumor cells (CTC). If genetic materials are circulated in the blood stream, they are called circulating free tumor DNA (cftDNA or ctDNA):

Liquid biopsies show guidance to clinicians for early diagnosis, personal treatment options, therapy planning, follow-up of treatment.
